Elbert Roop----89---dies at home
Elbert E. Roop, 89, of route 6, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday at his home one mile southwest of Willshire, Ohio. He had been in failing health for the past year. The son of Jacob L. and Mary T. Strickler Roop, he was born in Willshire township, Van Wert, Ohio on January 20, 1880.
Mr. Roop married November 26, 1906 to Minerva May Myers, who survives him, together with the following children; Kenneth E. Roop, route one Craigville; Mrs. Authur (Reba) Richards, Richmond, Michigan; Mrs John L. (Glennys) King, route 6; Mrs Holman (Helen) Egly, route 2 Berns, One son preceded him in death.
Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Louis (Cora) Schumm, of Willshire, O, 14 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Church of God at Willshire, O. Friends may call at the Winteregg-Linn Funeral Home until 11 am Friday, and then at the church from 12 noon until time of services. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Church of God, Willshire, O., the Rev. Roscoe M. Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Willshire cemetery.
