Mildred Derritt (Trent) Ballard , formally of Brandenburg , passed away July 21st , 2016 in Naples , FL at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years , A.T. "Boots" Ballard , her parents , her brothers and sisters and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mildred was born February 23rd , 1917 to James Harlan Trent & Rose Ella Winters and was raised in Brandenburg Station. She was the youngest sister to James Lacy Trent , Earl Trent , Moses Trent , Cecil Loran Trent , Hartman Trent , Alliene Benham , Sylvia Clark & Edith Trent (all of Brandenburg). Her father , James Harlan , was one of the founding members of the Weldon Christian Church and Mildred joined the church at an early age.
Mildred and A.T. "Boots" Ballard were married in 1934 , raised their four children on their farm in Brandenburg , located on Old State Road , until 1954 and then moved to the Louisville area. In 1962 the family moved from Kentucky to Florida where Mildred worked for the G.C. Murphy Company as a bookkeeper and retired after 25 years of service.
Mildred was survived by her children : Joseph Ballard of Naples , FL / Mary Ballard French of Naples , FL / Gerald Ballard of Jennings , FL & Michael Ballard of Mims , FL. She leaves behind 10 Grandchildren , 15 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren , one niece ~ Mona Miller of Brandenburg , four nephews ~ Curly Trent & Roy Trent of Brandenburg , Tom Trent of Frankfort , Carl Trent of New Albany , and many great nieces and nephews in the Brandenburg area.
Funeral services were held on July the 26th at the Hodges Funeral Home. She was laid to rest with her husband at the Naples Memorial Gardens.
