Mrs. Simmons was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Glenn, Sr. and Alice (Medeiros) Sturgeon Peirce, and resided in the greater New Bedford area all of her life. Her interests included knitting, crocheting, word search puzzles, camping and most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter Lori Taylor, a son Douglas Simmons, 2 sisters Glenda Durante and Roberta Nadeau, 6 brothers: Glenn, Jr., David, Everett, Peter, Steven and Mark Sturgeon; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Michael and James Sturgeon.
