Helen was the only daughter of Michael P. Sullivan. She was the first child of Michael's second marriage to Theresa R. Junkins. Tessie died of tuberculosis 29 November 1900 when Helen was just 3 years old. Helen and her brother Harold also contracted tuberculosis. Helen married in 1917 to Frederick Andrew Held. Fred and Helen had two daughters, Mary Elisabeth and Eileen. Helen died at age 25 when Eileen was still an infant. Eileen died of measles the following March.

HELD - On Monday, November 27, 1922, at 2:20 a.m., Helen Sullivan HELD, wife of Fred E. Held. Funeral from the residence of her father, Michael P. Sullivan, 7306 Monticello street, Homewood, Wednesday, November 29, at 8:30 a.m. Solemn mass at Holy Rosary Church, at 9 o'clock. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend. Mrs. Frederick A. Held - Mrs. Helen Sullivan Held, aged 25, wife of Frederick A. Held, died yesterday in the home of her father, Michael P. Sullivan, 7306 Monticello street, East End. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh and was a member of the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Besides her husband and father, she leaves two daughters, Miss Mary Elizabeth Held and Miss Eileen Held, and three brothers, William Sullivan, Raymond Sullivan and Harold Sullivan, all of Pittsburgh.
