Max L. Swaim, 90, of Buchanan, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Chalet of Niles. Max was born on March 23, 1926 in Wheatfield, IN. He married Wilma Joanne, from this union came three children. She passed away in 2005. In 2009 he married Frances who survives. Max was a paratrooper in United States Army and a member of the New Troy American Legion. He worked for many years at Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan before working for Place Homes in South Bend where he retired. Max is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Shirley Swank, Jack Swaim, Gary (Debbie) Swaim and Tracy (Mark) Swaim; step children, Larry (Deborah) Pitchford and Sandy Smith; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill “Sonny” Swaim and a sister. Funeral services for Max will be held at 1 pm on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan with Pastor Rob McPherson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Visitation will be two hours prior from 11 am to 1 pm. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com.
