The birth date comes from family records.

The death date is the burial date from Mount Peace records for his family group.

John was a bonnet and hat frame maker. His father before him had been a bonnet maker in Kensington/Fishtown. John's business was called John W. Calver Co. and was located at 727-729 Arch St., Philadelphia.

He was one of two sets of twins in his birth household (twin with brother James Henry). When his mother Elizabeth McDaniel Calver died in 1853, the children were 15-year-old twins, 13, 10, and 5-year-old twins.

Their father remarried within the year to Emeline Stokes.

At the time his mother died, his mother's mother Hannah Ashton McDaniel also was living in the home. It is not yet clear where Hannah lived for the next three years, until her death in 1856, just before the 1860 census that shows the family together with the second wife.

His father's stepmother, Rebecca Calver, also is in this cemetery, but not in his household group. His stepmother of the same name, Rebecca Calver (his father's third wife), is in a different cemetery, in New Jersey.

Infants William G. (1902) and Emeline (1906) Calver are also buried in this family group. They might be grandchildren.
