Glenny was graduated from Annapolis in 1974 where he played quarterback for the Navy, jersey number 14. He enlisted June 5, 1974.

Lt. Glenny was one of six airmen who died when their P-3 Orion aircraft reportedly clipped a tramway cable and crashed into the Rainmaker Hotel during a Flag Day celebration. They had just dropped six skydivers as part of the celebration.

Lt Glenny was the Pilot in Command of a VP-50 P-3C Orion that crashed in Pago Pago, American Samoa killing all aboard. The squadron and aircraft was based out of NAS Moffett Field, California.
