His funeral service was Tuesday, July 19 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs. Interment was at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Calvin was born on June 23, 1922 to Adam and Pauline (Schaefer) Neuharth in Alpena.
Calvin married Esther Kopfmann in Wessington Springs on December 28, 1945.
The couple moved to a farm seven miles northwest of Alpena, where he continued his love of farming and where he and Esther raised their four children.
In July 2011 he moved from the farm to Country View Estates Assisted Living.
Calvin was a long time, active member of The Gideons International, proud of his time spent delivering Bibles throughout the community. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs.
One of Calvin’s biggest joys was driving the countryside, checking on the crops, cattle and his boys. He also looked forward to Sunday worship services.
Calvin is survived by his four children, Darrell (Dianna) Neuharth of Alpena, Michael (Roxanne) Neuharth of Eden Prairie, MN, Stuart (Cindy) Neuharth of Alpena, and Teresa (Wayne) Schrader of Eden Prairie, MN; nine grandchildren, Eric Neuharth, Stephanie (Jason) Winter, Julie Schley, Jason (Jessie) Schley, Jenna (Matt) Mikkelson, Natalie Neuharth, Justin Neuharth, Colton Neuharth, and Anna Schrader; nine great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther in 2013; step-father, Louie Neuharth; one brother, Reinhold Neuharth; two sisters, Leone Parker and Ruth Jaeger; three step-brothers, Emil, Adiel, and Raymond; two step-sisters, Leah Bentz and Hilda Kopfmann; and a half-sister, Lillian Neuharth.
