WILLIAM GREEN DIES AT 96; EX-MINISTER

William G. "Parson" Green, 96, 160 W. 8th South, former minister for the Seventh-day Adventist Church, died in a Salt Lake hospital Saturday of causes incident to age.
Pastor Green organized and built with the help of the congregation the Liberty Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, 820-3rd East, on May 7, 1923. He served as elder of the church until 1955.
He was a waiter at the Hotel Utah for 45 years where he served eight governors, 11 mayors and four presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He served Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, four vice presidents and numerous movie stars.
Born April 6, 1879, Tappahannock, Va., to Camel and Fanny Green, he married Gertrude Green and she died in 1936.
He married Alice C. Thomas in 1941 and she died April 12, 1975.
Survivors include [step]daughters, Mrs. Allison Browne, Mrs. Oma Gordon, Mrs. James (Yvonne) Goins and Mrs. Yvette Maxine Goins, all of Salt Lake City; a stepson, George A. Thomas of Long Beach, Calif., 25 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday noon in the Liberty Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, 820-3rd East. Friends may call 574 E. 1st South Wednesay 7-8 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
