He was born on November 7, 1929 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania to the late Worrell M. Jones and Ruth E. (Beightol) Jones. Bob was a 1947 graduate of high school in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
Following high school he was employed by the Penn Power Company at their generating plan in West Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania.
Bob was called to active duty serving in Korea with the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division. After his discharge he attended Ohio State University graduating in June 1957. More importantly he met Elizabeth L. Karr (Liz) the love of his life, whom he married August 31, 1956.
Bobs career of 29+ years with General Motor began at the Fisher Body plant in Mansfield, Ohio. Following eight transfers Bob retired at the Inland Division plant in Dayton, Ohio. His career was, for the most part, in Human Resources.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby.
Bob and Liz enjoyed their retired life in Sun Lakes, Arizona from 1986 until 2013. Following the passing of Liz on December 21, 2013 Bob returned to Shelby in mid 2014. In this area he was surrounded by in-laws, Almedie McKown, Richard (Jackie) Karr and Carolyn "Susie" Clark, numerous nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth L. Karr, two brothers James and Stewart A. Jones, three brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law Raymond McKown, Ray Clark, Donald and Marianna Karr .
Funeral services will be held at the 10:30 a.m. Friday July 22, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church in Shelby. Pastor Russel Yoak will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday July 21.
In lieu of flowers memorial expressions may be made to the Lutheran Disaster Relief or Medcentral Hospice.
