Mary Hilley Stoermer, 90, lifelong Waco resident, passed away November 12, 2006. After a private service, she was buried in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mary was born in Waco, Texas, to the late John Gordon Hilley and Janie (Moor) Hilley. She graduated from Waco High School in 1937 and was a lifetime member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. Over the course of her life, she owned and operated a gas station, a grocery store, and a rooming house. She also worked for Word, Inc. and West Wholesale Grocers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Rudy Stoermer, in 1988; and brothers, Gordon Hilley, of Temple, and Lewis Hilley, of Morgan's Point.

Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie M. Stoermer, of Lakewood, Colo.; grandson, Alexander D. Strickland, of Citrus Heights, Calif.; niece, Jan Hilley, of New York City; sister, Evelyn Barker, of Waco; sister-in-law, Louise Blackstock, of Lake Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
