Howard retired from the DuPont Company Experimental Station in 1980 after 30 years of service. He was a decorated US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in the European Theatre. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and also spent time as a POW.
He is survived by his son, Douglas K. Allston and his daughter-in-law, Joan Allston of Fairfax, VA; his grandchildren, Katherine Allston of Baltimore, MD and Douglas K. Allston, Jr. of Onley, MD.
