He was born in Spreckles, CA to James Walter and Cora Ann Adams on January 22, 1914.
Pastor Adams is the 9th of 10 children and is survived by his sister, Maxine DeBord.
A wonderful retirement celebration was held on March 15, 2004 in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Adams as he concluded 42 years as pastor of the First Foursquare Church of Long Beach.
Rev. Billy Adams was a graduate of Life Pacific Bible College, class of 1932 and counted it a privilege to serve God through The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel for a total of 74 years. He was presented with the Southern California Foursquare Churches Lifetime Achievement Award on October 1, 2002. He served various pastorates, had a successful radio ministry and was the Staff Evangelist at Angeles Temple where he ministered for 7 years. He wa s noted for illustrated sermons done in the style of Aimee Simple McPherson, also due to his world wide evangelistic meetings he became known as the Globetrotting Evangelist.
Pastor Adams is survived by his wife of 72 years, Esther; daughter, Patsy Lane (Robert); grandchildren, Robert Bruce Lane (Linda), Gary Edward Lane (Renee) and Cheryl Susan Lenell (Jack); great grandchildren, Robbie and Daniel Lane; Jacquelyn, Rebecca and Kaitlyn Lane; and Faith Elizabeth Lenell; and 2 precious twins awaiting their birth to granddaughter, Cheryl.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 22 from 4-8pm at McKenzie Mortuary, 3843 E. Anaheim St., Long Beach.
A Celebration Service will be held for family and friends on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 1 pm at The First Foursquare Church of Long Beach, 2416 E. 11th Street, Long Beach, CA 90804, (562) 438-1395.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cypress. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to Life Pacific Bible College, Billy Adams Scholarship Fund for the ongoing development and education of pastoral leaders, 1100 W. Covina Bl., San Dimas, CA 91773.
