OBITUARY from Altoona Mirror April 28, 1978 page 36 - FRED W. SHAWLEY - Of 907 4th Ave., Juniata, died following an extended illness at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 1978, in Altoona Hospital. Mr. Shawley retired as a brakeman from the Pittsburgh Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1945. He was born May 1, 1896, at Spruce Creek, a son of Louis and Carrie (Rudy) Shawley, and Dec. 11, 1928, in Eldon married Laura Wilson. Surviving are his wife, seven children, Mrs. Phyllis Moyer of Juniata, Mrs. Marjorie Bowman and William R. of East Juniata, Albert and Baren of Bellwood, Fred W. Jr. of Greencastle and Mrs. Janet Kibe of Duncannon: 21 grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. Mr. Shawlev was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Juniata. He was also a member of the Bellwood Sportsmen. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata.
