Marie Cecelia Kaiser Biggs, of Vincennes, Indiana passed away on February 22, 2023 in her home, surrounded by her family.
Marie was born in Vincennes to the late Clarence Sr, and Magdalena "Bauer" Kaiser.
She married the love of her life, Donald James Biggs, on October 27, 1951 at St. John's Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn the loss of Marie are her loving husband of 71 years Donald J. Biggs, daughter: Brenda Cates, son: Darrell (Tammy) Biggs, grandchildren: Steven and Ashley Quarterman, Dylan and Stephanie Cates, and Dalton Biggs, brother: George Kaiser, and 10 great grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Clara Hoffman, Anna Harmon, Charles (Chuck) Kaiser and Clarence Kaiser.
Marie loved to work in her garden that would put other gardens to shame. She enjoyed endless hours of competitive euchre playing. She loved to read and loved to walk until her legs no longer allowed her to. Along with euchre she enjoyed her time in her chair playing solitaire. She loved being outside whether is was pulling weeds, picking strawberries, or just showing others her flowers and garden. Marie always looked forward to our weekly meals on Sundays where she got to spend time and love on all of her family especially her great grandchildren. As much as she loved her family the love for her husband surpasses any love imaginable. Most of all her love for the Lord was apparent in her everyday life by her willingness to always put others first. She was very involved in church and loved her church family as her own. She and Don loved their yearly trips down to Texas along the Rio Grand. Marie especially enjoyed their 50th wedding anniversary when they went on an Alaskan Cruise. She also enjoyed all of the various vacations with her family and friends. Marie loved all kinds of music especially going to blue grass festivals with her family.
She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul, Knights of Columbus, St. John's Alter Society, and St. John's Catholic Church.
Marie worked at Brown Shoe Factory, Tresslars and also held the great title of homemaker extraordinaire.
Among all the accomplishments Marie achieved in her life she also volunteered in many ways. She sewed for residents at all area nursing homes and would read to residents who no longer could. Marie took flowers from her garden to the female residents on Mothers Day. She and Don went to eat with kids at the juvenile detention center once a week for many years. Marie took produce from her garden to those in need and to many shut ins, helped for many years at the St. Vincent De Paul, and was a Eucharistic minister for years taking communion to the patients in the hospital and those in nursing homes and shut ins.
The family would like to thank each and every person involved with the care of Marie, especially the Good Samaritan Hospice team. A special heart felt thank you to Good Samaritans Hospice nurse Charlotte for treating Marie with such tender hands and care.
Visitation for Marie will take place on February 27, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.with the Funeral mass at 1 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church.
