Derrick Benjamin Price
August 20, 1984 - July 13, 2016

Derrick Benjamin Price, 31, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on July 13, 2016 after a long and courageous battle of multiple illnesses. Derrick was saved by our Heavenly Father at the age of eight and was baptized by the Rev UL Graham.

Derrick graduated with honors from Powell Valley High School in 2002 where he was presented with many awards for his participation in marching band. He graduated from Northeast State with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2007. His passion was fishing and being outdoors and he loved classic cars. Derrick was a big guy with an even bigger heart. He was an amateur photographer, he enjoyed capturing God's beautiful creation. He loved animals and children and had a contagious smile that will live in our hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Myrtle and Aaron Price Sr. And maternal grandfather Jason Murray and his aunt Stephanie Murray.

Derrick leaves behind to grieve his loss forever his loving wife and best friend of 10 years Crystal Lawson Price, his parents Aaron and Della Price of Big Stone Gap, his sisters Jessica (Manuel) Hernandez of Stanton, KY and Erica (Randy) Phillips of Bristol, VA, his grandmother, Flora Murray, his nephew Andres Hernandez, nieces Lucy and Sophie Hernandez and Jasmine Phillips. And several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. And his special little buddy Gabriel Dustin (Little D) Reed.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Josh Tompkins officiating.

Committal graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. to go in procession.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
