Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Burdette Lorraine O'Connor Bowen, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 12, 2016.

Burdette was born April 8, 1929 to Charles A. O'Connor and Maxine Myreea LaPine O'Connor in Oakland, California. Her family moved to Murray, where she graduated from Murray High School.

She met the love of her life, Eugene Robert Bowen, and were married on October 23, 1948. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 22, 1976. They were blessed with two amazing children, Robert "Bobby" Bowen and LeeAnn Thompson. They were married for forty-five wonderful years before "Gene" passed away in 1993. After being separated for over twenty-two years, they are reunited and happily embracing one another again.

Her greatest passion was serving her family, children, and grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday or holiday even as her family grew bigger. She always made everyone she met feel important and she loved them unconditionally. She always had a smile on her face, never complaining about her own problems and the pain she endured. She was truly a humble and compassionate woman.

She is survived by her son, Robert Eugene Bowen (Brenda); daughter, LeeAnn Thompson (Jesse); and grandchildren, Kathy and Victor Torok with their four children and two grandchildren, Shelly Bowen and son, Jesse and Allison Thompson with their three children, Mitzi and Craig Cooper with their two children, Bridget Bowen Mebius with her two children, Julie and Mike McRae with their three children, Bert and Stephanie Bowen with their two children, Scott and Shaunna Thompson with their three children, Tammie Thompson with her two children, and Stacey and Wayne Howcroft with their two children. Her legacy includes her ten grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren thus far. She is preceded in death by her parents and eternal companion, Gene.

The family wishes to thank Welcome Home Assisted Living and Tender Care Hospice for the compassionate service given to our mother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Murray Twelfth Ward Chapel, 363 East Vine Street, Murray. A viewing will be held prior at 10:00 a.m.
