After a long illness, Eugene Robert Bowen passed away on Thanksgiving morning, November 25, 1993. As a family, we give thanks for a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. May years of happiness have been ours.

Gene was born April 21, 1928 in Salt Lake City to Arthur Gower and Mattie Bowen.

He married Burdette Lorraine O'Connor on October 23, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 22, 1976.

Gene has been an active member of the LDS faith. He served in the Salt Lake Temple as a temple worker, was a faithful home teacher, and has served where and when he has been called. Even as a young boy, Grandpa always wanted to go inside the Salt Lake Temple. After reaching his goal, he found that his very favorite place to be was in the temple. That brought much joy and happiness to him and his family.

Gene retired from Equitable LIfe & Casualty in March of 1992. Gene worked for Equitable for twenty years. His service was always received with gratitude. Gene was a faithful and devoted employee for whomever he worked.

We will miss his laugh and his teasing ways, his example and desire for knowledge. His Thanksgiving gift was to return to his Father in Heaven.

Gene is survived by his eternal companion, Burdette; son, Robert Eugene Bowen; daughter, LeeAnn Bowen Thompson; brothers, William Bowen, Douglas Bowen, and Richard Bowen; sister, Luella Keyes; ten grandchildren, Kathy and Victor Torok, Jesse, Julie, and Scott Tammie, and Shelly, Mitzi, Bridget, Bert, and Stacey; and one great-grandchild, Samantha. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank Bowen and Jack Bowen; and one sister, Peggy Powell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 1993 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eagle Gate Second Ward Chapel, 135 North "A" Street. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 26, 1993 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
