Floyd A. Hanson, of Irving, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011. He was born February 3, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Texas during high school. Floyd served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor's of Science (Economics) Degree. He worked as an Insurance Broker for Employer's Insurance of Texas, and Swett & Crawford for over 50 years, and still worked as a consultant for AmWINS Brokerage of Texas. He was an active member of the Irving Jaycess and a dedicated member of Plymouth Park United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for over 50 years. He volunteered for Baylor Hospital driving the Senior Van on Fridays and volunteered in many ways through his church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, LaWanda Hanson, and survived by his daughters Holly Hanson of Irving, and Laurie Roberts and husband Bill of Frisco; brother Roger Hanson and wife Delores of Pennison; sister Shirley Menasco of Kemp; and grandchildren Dawn Dippel and Matthew Dippel, both of Spring, and Jacob Roberts of Frisco. The family will receive friends 6-9 PM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at their residence. Memorial services will be held at 10 AM Friday, April 29, 2011 at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in Irving with Dr. William E. LaBarr and Rev. Dana Norton officiating. Memorial Donations may be made to PPUMC/Music Ministry, 1615 W. Airport Frwy., Irving, TX 75062.
