Benford Doler, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at his residence. He was born in Winona on July 24, 1917 to the late Scott and Pearl West Doler. He was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church where he was a lifetime deacon. He was a member of the Bruce Rotary club, receiving the honor of being named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired branch manager for Pontotoc Electric Power Association where he worked for 48 years.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parker Memorial funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with the Rev. Christian Hall and Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jewell E. Lyon Doler of Bruce; a son, Benny Doler of Bruce; two grandchildren, Ben Doler and Lisa Giompoletti, both of Bruce; and one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Giompoletti of Bruce.
Pallbearers will be fellow Rotarians Bill Cooper, A.D. Spratlin, James Wright, Tommy Hallum, Ottis B. Crocker Jr., and Bob Logan.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees and retirees of Pontotoc Electric Power Association and members of the Bruce Rotary Club.
