She was a devoted member of her church, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her son, John Matthews and daughter, Susan Gillet; her Brother Charles Sherrill; her grandchildren David, Molly, Keith, and Bryan as well as her 2 great grand-children, Troy and Lola.
She was preceded in her death by her husband. John Matthews and her son, Jeffrey Matthews.
A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of Our Father, 3304 Groometown Rd, Greensboro NC on September the 12th, 2015 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lutheran Church of Our Father.
