Geri was born in Hillview on Feb 3, 1929.
After graduation from Minor High School, she went on to work for several businesses including Wood Chevrolet, Perfection Bedding Co, and finally the Jefferson County Teacher's Credit Union.
Her love of fashion and outgoing personality also led her to work for many years as a part-time sales associate for Parisian.
Geri was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church and the Kingdom Seekers Sunday School Class, and a former member of Ensley Baptist Church. Geri was active for many years in the Civico Club where she made many life-long friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Meredith Bonds and mother, Ada Cowart Bonds; five brothers, Coleman, Olen, Alvin, Moxie and Ronald Bonds; eight sisters, Edith, Juanita and Virginia Bonds, Geneva Manning, Ailene Shipman, Joyce Fox, Jacqueline Lynn (her twin) and Gwendolyn Jones; brothers in law, Edward Manning, Buford Shipman, Dr. Walter Fox, Roy Lynn and Gene Jones; sisters in law, Hazel and Ernestine Bonds.
Survivors include one sister in law, Paulette Bonds of Kimberly; 12 nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Covenant Place of Gardendale, Healing Touch Caregivers, and Hope Hospice for their loving care and support.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm. Burial will follow the service in Hillview Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. George Weeks will conduct the services.
