C.W. "Pat" Patterson, a former grocery store operator at Reubens and employee of the now-closed Bollinger Hotel, died at 11:30 Sunday night at his Clarkston home at 1266 Poplar St. of emphysema. He was 68.

Patterson retired in 1971 at the end of 10 years as an employee at the Bollinger and as ticket agent for Greyhound Bus Lines there. Prior to that, from 1955 to 1961, he owned and operated Pat's Place, a grocery store and restraunt at Reubens.

He also was believed to be the first toolmaker at Speer, Inc., a bullet manufactureing plant. He worked there from 1947 until 1955.

He was born August 18, 1906, at Donnybrook, ND to Ora Oscar and Annie Delia Patterson. He moved to Stites in 1910 and lived there untl 1925 when he joined the US Navy. After being discharged in 1929, he moved to Michigan where he worked for Motor Wheel & Dye Co. as a machinist until moving to Lewiston in 1947.

He was married to Tille Gross in Michigan in 1928. She died in 1942. He married Helen Miller in 1947 in Michigan and they were divorced in 1961. He married Dottie Cromer in Lewiston in 1965. They were divorced the following year.

Patterson was a member of the Nez Perce Masonic Lodge and the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia L Moe of Clarkston; three sons, Phillip L. Patterson of Springfield, VT, Joseph S. Patterson of Lewiston, and Bill O. Patterson of Clarkston; two brothers, James D. Patterson and George D. Patterson, both of Lansing, MI; four sisters, Odessa F. Nicholson of Kelso, WA, Zelda R. Shuck of Pomeroy, Nettie V. Berry of Milton-Freewater and dorothy Hardwhick of Port Orchard, WA; and six grandchildren.

Two sisters, Florence I. church and Isabel Wilfong and a brother, Joe M. Patterson, preceded him in death.

A Graveside service will be held Friday at 4 pm at Normal Hill Cemetery with Frank West officiating. Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The body may be viewed from 10:00 am Tuesday until 7:00 PM on Wednesday.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Patterson Memorial Fund.
