Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Youngsville for Lawrence "Blondie" Benoit, Sr., age 89, who was born on July 31, 1926 and passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Pelican Pointe Rehabilitation in Maurice, LA.

Interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery in Youngsville.

Reverend William Schambough, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass. Lectors will be Lea Fuscaldo and Amy Fuscaldo. Giftbearers will be Felicia Bernard and Carla Fuscaldo.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Alice Smith Benoit; his children, Felicia Bernard (David), Lawrence "Bubba" Benoit, Jr. (Susan), James Benoit, William Benoit (Kim), Tommy Benoit (Claire), Carla Fuscaldo (Tom), and Brent Benoit; his sister, Verlie Mire; his grandchildren, Cody Bernard, Rachel Endsley, Joshua Benoit, Noah Benoit, Jacob Benoit, Konnor Benoit, Zachary Benoit, Army Specialist Stephen Benoit, Nicholas Benoit, Lea Fuscaldo, and Amy Fuscaldo; and his great-grandchildren, Leland Benoit, Wyatt Endsley, and Asher Bernard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Honore Benoit; his brothers, Darren Benoit, Brennan Benoit, and Aaron Benoit; his sister, Mary Babineaux; his granddaughter, Emily Kay Benoit.

A resident of Youngsville and Lafayette, Louisiana for most of his life, Lawrence "Blondie" Benoit was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served the Lafayette Fire Department for 26 years. Lawrence was married to the love of his life, Alice Smith for 68 years, with whom they had seven children. He was very active in the Lafayette Parish 4-H Dairy Program. He was an avid gardener, bee keeper, and enjoyed caring for his many farm animals. Lawrence Benoit was a family man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Cody Bernard, Joshua Benoit, Noah Benoit, Jacob Benoit, Konnor Benoit, Zachary Benoit, Army Specialist Stephen Benoit, and Nicholas Benoit.
