Warren R. Jones, 95, lifelong resident of Mulberry, Kansas, died at 10:17 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Golden Living Center at Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mr. Jones was born November 20, 1920 at Mulberry, Kansas the son of Robert and Lena Yarber Jones.
Warren was the Postmaster at Mulberry for many years. He was raised in Mulberry and graduated from Mulberry High School in 1938. He worked for the Postal Service for 27 ½ years.
He married Margie Martinette on October 10, 1945 at Arma, Kansas. Mrs. Jones Preceded him in death March 10, 2014.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a Prisoner of War.
He was a member of the Mulberry United Presbyterian Church, the Mulberry American Legion, the American Ex-POW's, the Disabled American Veterans, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Caterpillars Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Danny) Rhodes of Mulberry and Becky (Pat) Walden of Mulberry, a son, Tim (Denise) Jones of Overland Park, Kansas, six grandchildren, Jamey Rawlings, Warren Rhodes, Kevin Jones, Jill Buck, Betsy Knowles, and Lindsey Pryor, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister, Helen McElvain.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas with the Rev. Ronald Moore officiating.
Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry, Kansas.
The Ft. Riley Burial Detail will conduct graveside services.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bedene Chapel in Arma.
The family suggests memorials to the Freddie Gobl Memorial Park Fund. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
