Note: Based upon info in this article, I placed Mr. Browning in this cemetery, but the article does not specifically mention that he is here. Also, the Lyon-Chase County line is about 2 miles west of Plymouth, so it is unknown in which county he actually was hit. It is unknown whether he died on the 4th or the 5th. I cannot find him in a census or other info on Ancestry.com and Newspapers.com.

KILLED BY A TRAIN

BODY OF GEORGE [sic] BROWNING, A BAZAAR FARMER

Found near Santa Fe Tracks Near Plymouth -- Browing, Evidently Had Been Hit By a Train, and Had Been Dead Several Hours.

George Browning, of Bazaar, was killed by a Santa Fe train two miles west of Plymouth last night. The body was found at 7:30 o'clock this morning by George Westerhaus, a section foreman. Browning was badly bruised and both legs mangled. It is not known when or how the accident happened. The agent at Plymouth said this morning the body was found near the track and had evidently been there several hours. He thought Browning was walking on a track when a train hit him.

"We do not know when he was killed or what train struck him," the Plymouth agent said this morning. "Westerhaus found the body near the track but we could not tell how long it had been there."

The Chase County coroner came to Plymouth and the body was taken to Cottonwood Falls. It will be sent to Bazaar today. George Browning lived two miles north of Bazaar. He was a farmer and stockman.
