The last of eleven children born to John Franklin "Frank" Sr & Elsie Jane (Kennedy) Mosier of Brown Co IN, Dad was born in Beanblossom. He married:
1) Bonnie Jean Warfield on 14 Sep 1946 Indianapolis, Marion Co IN, the daughter of Verle Thomas & Flora Dorset (Clevenger) Warfield of Indianapolis, Marion Co IN. They had four children, one daughter (me) and three sons.
2) Kathryn.
My father was only 15 days old when his own father died. When Dad was 3-1/2 years old, he was sent to live with Stephen & Opal Virginia [Clayton] Byrum. During those years he was known as Bobby Byrum.
The first wife of my father's oldest brother, Raymond Eugene Mosier, was Edna Byrum, the sister of Stephen Byrum.
Virginia Byrum, whom Dad called Mother Byrum, died in 1940 when my father was 13 years old. As a teen, Dad showed me a letter she had written to him just before she died. Dad may have continued to live with the Byrum family until he married my mother in 1946.
My father served on the destroyer USS Arcadia and the USS Hooper, in both WWII and Korea, retiring as an E7 Store Keeper Chief Petty Officer, in 1969.
Very artistic, Dad drew beautiful pictures with pencil, both portraits and landscapes. He was also an experienced accountant in the Navy and taught me those skills.
He loved golf and his favorite pets were our all black dog Mandy (1960-1975) and a green & yellow parakeet Winky (1957-1960). Mandy was a terrier-mix that had been born at my grandma Flora (Clevenger) Warfield's home in Rushville IN. A much loved pet, Mandy lived with Dad until her death in 1975. Winky came from a drugstore in Fall River MA. Dad actually taught her tricks and to say "Hello".
At the time my father met my mother in early 1946, he worked at the Kroger Grocery Store on Morris Street in West Indianapolis. It was recently found out that Dad & Mom owned an ice cream store for a while, also in Indianapolis.
Many special thanks to Hans. ♥Jღ for sponsoring my father's memorial. God Bless.
