Mrs. Martin, known to family and friends as Pearl, was born April 11, 1925 in Cisco, TX to the ome of Ethel (Evans) and Homer Hobbs and died at her home on July 4, 2016.
When she was a little girl, her family moved to Roosevelt county and settled south of Elida, and later moved again to Pep. In 1939, the family moved to Arkansas. A year later, she left home and went to Kansas City, KS where she was employed as a riveter at the Boeing Airplane Plant.
On Sept. 6, 1944 in Fayetteville, AR she was married to Guy Martin. In 1949, they moved toTaiban, NM, and then finally to a farm west of Portales in 1953.
Mrs. Martin was a devoted wife and mother. She preferred to be at home where she enjoyed cooking and doing for her family.
In her younger years she did quite a lot of quilting. She was an avid reader as long as her eyesight allowed.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Donna Martin of Haslett, TX and Ray and Jane Martin of Portales; four grandchildren, Andrea Martin of Santa Fe, Molly (Chad) Crisp of Clayton, NM, Jeremy Martin of North Richland Hills, TX and Melisa (Harry) Livingston of Denver, CO; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Hadley and Aly Crisp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers, Homer Buel, Glenn, Elvin, Wylie and Charles Hobbs, and by her beloved husband, husband, Guy M. Martin who died July 21, 1997.
