WILLIAM REDEKER

William Redeker (photo), prominent Mishicot citizen, who died Monday
noon at the age of 79, had carried mail out of Mishicot and Francis
Creek post offices for nearly 29 years prior to his retirement in
December, 1934.
Of recent years he had made his home in Mishicot with a son Arthur,
where he died.
Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Peter
Lutheran church in Mishicot with the Rev. Edward Zell officiating.
Burial will be in Mishicot public cemetery.
Born on a town of Two Rivers farm in 1869, Mr. Redeker came to Mishicot
55 years ago. He began his rural mail carrying duties out of the Mishicot
post office in February, 1916, continuing there until August, 1918, when
he was transferred to a route out of Francis Creek. In July, 1920, he
returned to Mishicot where he rounded out nearly 29 years of the postal
service.
Prior to becoming a mail carrier, Mr. Redeker had operated a dray line
in Mishicot.
The deceased was also active in community and church affairs, having been
a trustee of the St. Peter congregation and of the Mishicot Public
Cemetery association.
In 1897 he married the former Bertha Blum of Mishicot and the couple
celebrated its golden wedding anniversary September, 1947. Mrs. Redeker
died in April, 1948.
Surviving, in addition to the son, Arthur, are a daughter, Mrs. Norman
Burt of Mishicot; two sisters, Mrs. George Johansen of Chicago and Mrs.
Robert Lymann of Antigo; two brothers, Frank Redeker of Denver and Henry
Redeker Sr., of the town of Mishicot; and two grandchildren.
The body is at the Specht funeral home in Mishicot where it may be viewed
this evening. It will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday where
it will lie in state until time of the afternoon service.
