Emma Elizabeth Ortmeyer, 97, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born on May 7, 1909 in Taos, MO, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Prenger Thessen.

She was married on April 25, 1933 in Taos to Leo Stephen Ortmeyer who died on Dec. 9, 1992.

A homemaker, Mrs. Ortmeyer was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; St. Ann's Sodality; and enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Catherine "Kate" Engelbrecht, Jefferson City; and Dorothy "Dot" and Donald Strope, Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Faye Engelbrecht (DeWayne) Doerhoff; Neil (Jane) Engelbrecht; Kent (Terri) Engelbrecht; Scott (Dawn) Strope; and Tania Strope (Dennis) Lock; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Travis Strope; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; and nine brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick G. Dolan officiating.

Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Taos.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug 11th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
