Borne Beyond.
Last night as the clocks were tolling the midnight hour, the spirit of little Annie Barnett, daughter of Marshal Barnett, winged its way through the gloom and darkness into the eternal light and celestial joy of the abode of the blest.

For ten days she had suffered from an attack of that fell disease, diphtheria, but she bore these sufferings with a fortitude rarely witnessed in one so young. To this child had come but nine years, and to her and to her father and mother and brothers and sister, this going away forever from the home circle on earth seemed almost cruel beyond endurance.

But she was willing to pass over the cold stream, and with sweet resignation to the separation, just before Azrael touched her little form into the stillness of lifeless marble, she sat up in bed and made loving distribution of her childish toys and trinkets.

Each member of the household was given some little token of remembrance, and then her thoughts ran out to favorite schoolmates, and they, too, were remembered with her dying gifts. This the "little one" sank back upon her pillow and the waiting angels tore her pure soul to the garden of God.

Tomorrow morning, at 10 o'clock, the sleeping form will be borne from the home she brightened, to rest till the final day. May the Master's sympathy lift the heavy burden from those who loved her so tenderly. - Sedalia Weekly Bazoo - Tuesday, October 28, 1884 pg.8
