MARSHFIELD - Daniel Phillips, 84, a lifelong resident of Marshfield, died Wednesday at Cardigan Nursing Home, Scituate.

Mr. Phillips graduated from Marshfield High School in 1936.

An Army veteran, he was the first person drafted from Marshfield during World War II. He was awared the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.

He worked as a truck driver for Marshfield Sand & Gravel until his retirement in 1981 after 35 years.

Mr. Phillips was a long time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Marshfield and the Marshfield Yacht Club.

He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Jane A. (Peluso) Phillips of Marshfield; a son, LIVING; two stepdaughters, LIVING; and four grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service at 11 AM Saturday at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Marshfield. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Marshfield.
