William Frederick Gaisford, 89, of Cooperstown RD 1 (Dempseytown), died at noon Wednesday in the Franklin Hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 11, 1876, at Chicora, son of John C. and Mary Ellen Frederick Gaisford.
He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, was a Mason more than 51 years, a member of Myrtle Lodge 316 F & AM in Franklin, the Oil City Lodge of Perfection and the Coudersport Consistory. He was fond of flower gardening and collected antique clocks as a hobby. He owned Heasley and Gaisford Blacksmith Shop in Franklin where he lived when first married, then worked for Franklin Steel Division of Borg-Warner from 1923 until he retired in 1951.
On August 19, 1902 in Oil City by Rev. Mr. Stocking, he married Lillian Henderson, who survives, with two daughters, Mrs. Ira (Edith Christine) Ware and Mrs. Carle (Clara Helen) Mitchell of Oil City; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. H.L. Sanderson of Butler. Two children, Janet L. and John N., are deceased.
Services will be in Morrison Funeral Home with Dr. Robert B. Shane, pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Edward McCollough, pastor of the Polk Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
