KAYSVILLE – Eva May Chenoweth Taylor, our beautiful sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2016 from complications of old age. She was 90 years old and had a long and happy life during her earthly stay.

She was born on April 22, 1926 to Alva Chenoweth and Lela Moncrief Chenoweth in Worland, Wyoming. As a child she loved to hunt rabbits, pheasants, and go fishing with her father. She enjoyed baseball, volleyball, ice skating, and playing tag.

She graduated from Washakie County High School in 1945. After graduation she moved with a friend to Layton, Utah and got a job at Hill Air Force Base. It was here that she met her future husband, John E. Taylor (Ted). They were married on January 1, 1946. Their first home was a sheepherder’s trailer set in a field in Draper, Utah on Ted’s Uncle Charles farm. Their son John was born on November 18, 1946. They lived in various small apartments and on January 22, 1951 their daughter, Kathleen was born. Eva and Ted bought their first home in Fruit Heights, Utah.

Eva quickly learned the basics of canning, baking, keeping a clean house, and raising her children. Several years later they moved to a larger home in Layton, Utah. Ted passed away in 1987 and Eva kept up the house until 1999 when she moved into St. Mark’s Gardens senior apartments. She was on her own for 28 years and then moved into Fairfield Village assisted living facility.

She was very family oriented and attended all family holidays and gatherings. She also was a volunteer coordinator at Autumn Glow Senior Center for many years and continued to attend for lunch with her friends.

Eva is survived by her sister Alice Kraft of Oklahoma, her two children, John (Paulette) and Kathy (Lenny), Five grandchildren, Tonya (Bosso) Huffman, Preston Taylor, Heather (Bosso) Rigby, Matthew Taylor, and Starlyn (Taylor) Wiley, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Edgar Chenoweth of Wyoming; and Jonathan Taylor, grandson.

The family would like to give a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of the South Ogden Post-Acute Center. Their dedication and professionalism made Eva’s last days very comfortable.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends may visit family one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
