Doyle M. Ward, 89, of Napoleon, Ohio died Monday, November 17, 2014 at
the Napoleon Lutheran Home following a short-term battle with cancer. He was born April 22, 1925 in Shunk, Ohio to the late M. Dale and Ola B. (Hefflinger) Ward. On July 14, 1951, he married Elizabeth A. "Betty" Smajda in Chicago, Illinois.
Doyle was a truck driver and worked for Herriott Trucking, Eazor Express, Tony's Oil and Ward's Truck Service through his career. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Napoleon, Ohio, Harrison Township Grange 151, and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Chicago 710 - 8682.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Richard A. (Sally) Ward, McClure, Dr. Barbara O. (Dr. William) Ward-Wood, Clackamas, Oregon, Dennis D. "Rat" Ward, Napoleon, Cheryl A. W. (Steven) Leclerc, North Canton, Ohio, David B. Ward, Napoleon; Grandchildren, Joel (Dena) Ward, Keri (Todd) Conmay, Kristi (Chris) Heinze, Jeff (Viola) Ward, Joshua Ward, Amy Wenner, Jenessa Ward (Michael Martinez), Nicole Wenner (Jason Butler), Brock Ward (Brittany Keeran), Brooke Ward (Seth Wyse), Brant Ward, Christopher Ward (Chastity Dawson), Katie Cole, Joshua M. Wood, and Stephanie Leclerc; 20 great grandchildren; and sister, Arlene Eickmeier, McClure, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, BreLyn Ward; brother, Merritt Ward; and sister, Verena Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 22 at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon. Interment will follow at Hoy cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon.
