Merritt J. Ward, 59, Liberty Center, died from an apparent heart attack at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon.
He was a retired assistant supervisor for the Henry County Highway Department, where he was employed for 31 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Napoleon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3218. He was also a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.
He had graveside military rites said by the VFW Post.
