Dan E. Todd, 78, of Sycamore, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family. Born Dec. 20, 1932, in Waterman, the son of Cecil W. and Edna Georgia (Johnson) Todd, he married Monica Fox on July 2, 1958, in the Sycamore United Methodist Church.
Dan started his career as a farmer in the Rollo area, served in the Marines at Camp Pendleton, and was an MP in Korea for a year. He and Monica owned a fishing resort in Blackduck, Minn. for 15 years, and later he was employed by General Mills for more than 30 years before retiring in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Monica; children, Laurie E. Albini (John Smith) of Burlington, Bryan E. (Michele) Todd of Gilberts, Nancy L. Todd (Tom Gilles) of Sycamore; grandchildren, Monica and Dan Albini, Michelle, Mark, Katie, Ben and Jake Todd and Rachel Todd; brother, C. Wayne Todd; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Cedric W. Todd; and sister, Mirinda Oleson.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, in the Federated Church, 612 W. State St., Sycamore, with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 15, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Quiram Sycamore Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore.
