Asa Jones was born in 1787 in Georgia to Nathan Jones and Courtney Bell. The will of Nathan Jones names Asa as his son.

He married Martha Butler on June 10th of 1808 in Elbert County, Georgia.

He served in the War of 1812. His 50 page Pension Record does not list his children but Larkin Jones is mentioned numerous times, along with Jasper Butler and James Butler. This record states that after the war, he returned to Elbert County, Georgia.

There is an Asa Jones that appears in the District 414 Habersham, Georgia Census but I have not been able to determine if this is the same man.

Asa Jones appears in the 1815 Elbert County, Georgia Property Tax Record.

Asa Jones patented two parcels of land in Shelby County, Alabama. The first on October 14th of 1834 and the second on April 1st of 1837.

He appears in the 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, 1870 and 1880 Shelby County, Alabama Census records.

He is listed as a voter in Shelby County, Alabama in 1867.

Edit 08/23/2022 : Early Shelby County, Alabama Wills Will Book No. 21 1818-1846 shows a Jesse Jones, who became the guardian for William, John, Lewis, and Alexander D. Taylor, children of Elizabeth Fulch, before 02 July 1824. Many of the earliest records of Shelby County, Alabama that were previously unavailable have been digitized and are available via FamilySearch. Who is this elder Jesse Jones, and what was his relationship to Asa?

In 1822, Asa Jones was a buyer of the estate of his brother-in-law, Zachariah Butler. He purchased one lay for $1.25, and one barrel for $0.25.
