Arthur Barron was born at Streator, Illinois, on April 9, 1900, the son of William Barron and Anna Kennedy. He was married to Elizabeth Pleskovitch on September 6, 1919.
In 1917 he began working for the Public Service Co., a predecessor of Northern Illinois Gas. He started as a gas maker and ultimately worked his way up to district manager.
Arthur also had a long career in public service, which included work on the Ottawa Planning Commission, the Ottawa City Council, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce and a number of civic and charitable organizations.
He was survived by five sons and six daughters, 54 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also, one sister. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 1964, three sisters and two brothers.
