Leonard Douglas Fowler Sr., of Hayti, Missouri, died June 30, 2016 in Senath, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 16 days.
He was born March 14, 1930 in Risco, Missouri.
He was a caring and compassionate father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Hayti. He was a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ who knew his Bible from front to back. He was a loving caretaker of his wife Kathleen. He was very charitable to people and would visit the sick. He enjoyed playing his steel guitar and showed his talent at many places. In the late 60's and early 70's, Leonard played on Wednesday nights, broadcasted on cable T.V. and every Saturday night played at the American Legion Building in Caruthersville, MO. He was also on the Roadshow in Memphis, TN, as a member of the bank "The Countrymen". Besides his love of music, he enjoyed drawing, traveling, flying R.C. planes, archery, and deer hunting. He loved spending time with family and friends. He loved life and lived it!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lillian White Fowler, wife Kathleen Fowler, and sister, Noveda Manning.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Leonard Douglas Fowler, Jr., of Hayti, MO, Lloyd Verlin Fowler of Senath, MO, Cary Fowler and wife Kathy of Hayti, Missouri, Faron Fowler and wife Kimberly of Hayti, MO, Naconda Webb and husband Danny of Newbern, TN, and Danita Ross and husband Jeff of Piedmont, MO, 8 grandchildren, Erin, Kevin, Kyle, Jonathan, Eric, Jaclyn, Charity, and Justus, 5 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Destiny, Trace, Kyle Jr., and Aaliyah, brother Chalmer Fowler and wife Loretta of Springhill, TN, sister Judy Sparks and husband Roland of Trinity, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ in Hayti, with Bro. Sonny Quinn officiating. Burial was in Dry Bayou Cemetery North of Hayti.
Pallbearers were Eric Fowler, Marc Stepp, John and Kyle Nelson, and Justus and Jeff Ross. Honorary pallbearers were John A. and Larry Thompson, and Danny Webb.
