Know all men by these presents that I, Brinsley Barnes of the county of Wilkes and the state of North Carolina have bargained and sold unto James Barnes of Estill County and the state of Kentucky... this 10th day of November 1827

it doesn't say names or how many in this book.

2 years later, Brinsley was the executor of John Barnes, Sr., deceased estate. James of the state of Kentucky and county of Estell. To sum it up, Brinsley took back the increase (children) of a slave woman named Phillis from Elijah Barnes, of the state of Tennessee and county of Warren. (they must have been rented out)
"Given and by these presents granting to said attorney; my soul and full power and authority to take, pursue and follow such legal courses for the recovery, receiving and obtaining of the same; as I might or could do, and I personally presents and upon the same receipt acquittance; do perform and execute for me in my name all and singular thing or things, which are necessary touching and concerning the increase of the Negro woman, as fully thoroughly and entirely as I, the said Brinsley Barnes, in my own person ought or could do;---"
