Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Wayside Community Church with Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hedley, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery.

Laura Stevens was born in Memphis on May 21, 1949 to Ben and Peggy Moss. Laura graduated from Memphis High School then went on to graduate with an education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State. She married Terry Stevens on August 7, 1981. Laura Sue dedicated her life to the education of young minds and loved her students. She retired in 2011 after 40 years of teaching in multiple school districts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law, Cindy Moss, father-in-law, Clifford Stevens, and sister-in-law, Fran Stevens.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Stevens, of Claude; daughter, Sealey Hand and husband, Monty, as well as their three children, Brylie, Brettly, and Beau, all of Brisco; and daughter, Kyra Rutherford and husband, Blaine, from Manhattan, KS; brother, Larry Moss and wife, Judy, of Dallas; mother-in-law, Montene Stevens, of Wayside; brothers-in-law, Jerry Stevens and wife, Jill, of Lubbock, Wayne Stevens and wife, Gail, of Amarillo, Larry Stevens of Wayside, and Barry Stevens and wife, Debbie, of Canyon; nine nieces and nephews and their families as well as numerous beloved friends and former students.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Wayside Cemetery Association, PO Box 131, Wayside, TX 79094.

CLAUDE — Laura Sue Stevens, 67, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Wayside Community Church with the Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor of First
