Josephine G. 'Josie' Calcaterra
HERRIN --- Josephine G. "Josie" Calcaterra, 80, died at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct 6, 1994, in Herrin Hospital.
Mrs. Calcaterra was a homemaker. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian Barker officiating. Burial will be in San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. The rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel/St. Mary's Education Foundation. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
She was born Feb. 17, 1914, in Herrin to Eugene and Virginia (Bottini) Piantanida. She married Carl T. Calcaterra on Oct. 12, 1933, in Herrin. He died May 29, 1985.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl L. and Josephine Calcaterra and Roy G. and Lorene Calcaterra, all of Herrin; three grandchildren, Andrew Calcaterra and Mrs. Ron (Carla) Basler, all of Herrin, and Mrs. Dennis (Tina) Followell of Murphysboro; four great-grandchildren, Ronald and Amy Basler and Katie and Kevin Followell; and one sister, Katie Piantanida of Herrin.
Her parents, one brother, Mark Piantanida, and one sister, Lena Piantanida, also preceded her in death.
