Larry Loren Alber passed away from this life on June 21, 2016. He was born in Freeport, Illinois, to the late Loren and Lucile Bushman Alber on March 10, 1944.
He graduated from Milledgeville, Illinois High School and then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, where he graduated in 1966. His career after college began with work for Kraft Foods in Illinois and later with Planters Peanuts in Fort Smith, Arkansas. His next move had him joining forces with his son, Gary, at Alber Irrigation in Fort Smith. Larry was a very active member for over 25 years in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in Fort Smith and he was a member of Community Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, his daughter and his son. He was a beloved "Granddaddy" and "Papa" to grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and two brothers.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be on Monday near his childhood home in Illinois.

The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5-7 PM.
