Mary Margaret Philips, 93, of Gainesville, passed away June 27, 2016 in Gainesville.

Margie was born June 28, 1922 in Gainesville to John Robert and Alma Lee (Collins) Wakeham.

In 1939, she married Lewis Earl Philips in Gainesville.

Mrs. Philips was a lifelong resident of Gainesville. She enjoyed to cook, watch Westerns, and was a skilled embroiderer. The model of a strong woman, Mrs. Philips raised eight children with little help, instilling in them love and honesty.

Survivors include: daughter Marie Parkhill and husband Dale of Grand Prairie; daughter Glenda Ashwill and Jerry Antrim of Gainesville; daughter Judy Conway of Euless; daughter Kathy Dishman of Crockett; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Philips was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son John Robert Philips; daughter Nelda Philips; daughter Earlene Parkhill; daughter Elizabeth Fleitman; son Robert Stephen Philips; and sister Gladys Blair.

Funeral services: Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Parkhill officiating. Interment is at Fairview Cemetery.
