Minnie Pearl Decker was born January 9, 1913 in Scotland County near Memphis, Missouri the daughter of Gilbert and Jessie (Rugh) Jones. She graduated from Cantril High School. On November 10, 1935 she was united in marriage to Lester Decker in Cantril, Iowa. They farmed in southern Iowa for many years before moving to Salem, Iowa in 1966 and then to Kalona in 1995.

Minnie was baptized in the Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and was an excellent cook. Minnie died on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a long illness at the age of 95 years.
Minnie is survived by 3 children - Elaine Boshart and husband Robert of Kalona; Kenneth Decker and wife Meredith of Lee Summit, Missouri; Janice Ray of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren - Rick Boshart of Jackson, New Jersey; Teresa Boshart Yoder of Harrisonburg, Virginia; Lucinda Backhus of Blue Springs, Missouri; Lisa Boshart of Seoul, Korea; Shawn Decker of Johnson, Iowa; Angela Boshart of Coppell, Texas; Marc Ray of Perry, Iowa; and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester on July 15, 2003; 2 brothers - Lynn and Glen Jones; and 3 sisters - Marguerite McClelland, Helen Vehslage and Mae Powell.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Rev. David L. Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and the Pleasantview Home.
