Dillard Cade Partain was the son of Lindsey B. Partain and Martha Rucker Partain. He was one of 13 children and grew up in the Gaines District of Elbert County, GA. He was born in 1891 and married Fannie Elizabeth "Lizzie" (last name unknown) before 1918. Cade died at the young age of 33 and his death certificate lists the cause of death as accute indigestion, claiming the illness struck suddenly and he died within six hours of becoming ill. Cade may have died of appendicitis. He left behind his wife Lizzie and two children, a daughter Mary F. Partain, who was about eight years old at the time, and a son, Herbert Thornton Partain. Several family members attended his funderal at Rock Branch Cemetery, but there is no stone to mark his grave.
