Lindsey B. Partain was born Jan 13th, 1843 and was the son of Henry Carter Partain and Cynthia Powell Partain. He was the oldest son of 10 children. The Partain's were farmers and Lindsey continued the family tradition of farming.

Lindsey along with his father, Henry Carter Partain, both served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. They enlisted on April 6th, 1862, in 38th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infanty, Company F, Army of Northern Virginia. - Wounded at Cold Harbor, June 27, 1862, December 1862...3 month furlough...was in the hospital in Richmond, Virginia and then was transferred to a hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia. Paid $11/mo. Last on record shows 4 Nov 1864...

Lindsey survived the war and married Martha Rucker on Dec 6th, 1866 and together they had 13 children, 10 of whom lived to adulthood. Two of their children died within two months of each other during 1879, Curren A. Partain (1872-1879) and Elizabeth A. Partain (1874-1879; both are buried at Rock Branch Cemetery.

Martha Rucker Partain died in 1917. Two of their sons, James Fury and Coy Clayton Partain, served in World War 1. Lindsey lived to be 78 years old and died March 22nd, 1921.
