James Hackerd died at the home of John Mattix, Wednesday evening. He had been an invalid many years. He was a son of Joseph and Sarah Yount Hackerd, and was born on Jan. 28, 1886. In 1907 he was married to Miss Gartha Mattix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mattix. The couple were the parents of eight children - John, Robert, and James, Evelyn, Kathryn, Barbara and Wilma, one daughter dying in infancy. The deceased was a member of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian church and the funeral service will be conducted at that church Saturday, at 1:30 p. m. The burial will be in the Bunnell cemetery.
