His date of birth according to
Hebert, Rev. Donald J. ''Southwest Louisiana Records (1750-1900), Compact Disc.'' (Rayne, LA: Hebert Publications, 2000)
is 13 Sep 1839:
BROUSSARD, Jules (Jacob L. & Marie Marcellite BEGNAUD) b. 13 Sept. 1839 (SM Ch.: v.8, #1585)

His marriage record shows this is the correct Jules Broussard (there were several around this time), although there are minor differences in the parents names where Jacques is used for Sosthenes although his father was baptized with both names, and Bernard is used instead of the correct Begnaud.

BROUSSARD, Jules (Sosthene & Marcellite BERNARD) m. 22 Nov. 1859 Emilie CORMIER (SM Ch.: v. 9, # 284)

This is his father's baptism record showing the usage of both names:
BROUSSARD, Jacques Sosthenes (Anaclet - inhabitant at la pointe & Marie Magdeleine WILTZ) b. 27 Nov. 1816, bt. 26 Jan. 1817 Pats: dec. Silvain BROUSSARD & Felicite GUILBAUD; Mats: dec. Philippe WILTZ & dec. Marie Rosalie DOZAT; Spons: Jacob WOFFLEY & Marie Marcellite BROUSSARD - sister of the baptized; Signed: Jake WOLFLEY. Fr. Gabriel ISABEY (SM Ch.: v.7, #82)

and this is his parent's marriage record showing additional variants on the names:
BROUSSARD, Jacob Sosthenes (Anaclet & Magdaleine WILTZ) m. 3 March 1835 Marie Marcellite BEGNAUD (SM Ch.: v.7, #319)

All of these citations are from the Hebert CD cited above.
